Joshua Tree National Park, bordering Twentynine Palms to the south, is one of the most popular rock climbing areas in the world. More than 4,500 established climbs are located within the park’s nearly 800,000 acres. Sky Climbers was created as a tribute to those rock climbers who have long maintained a relationship with the hundreds of giant monzonite monoliths found within the park’s boundaries. The three-panel sculpture installation features 11-foot by 5-foot copper and steel panels designed and installed by artist Steve Rieman.
