Mural #22 - Battle of the Bell - "Mural-in-a-Day"

Artist: Art Mortimer of Los Angeles, CA (now Twentynine Palms)
Dedicated: October 6, 2007
Location: Twentynine Palms High School, South wall of the MPR building, Mesquite Springs Road at Wildcat Way (TPHS)

Since 1968, Twentynine Palms High School and Yucca Valley High School football teams have competed in a yearly game to determine which team will possess the Kiwanis Bell, a coveted trophy that was intended to promote wholesome rivalry and good sportsmanship between the two schools. This mural designed by Los Angeles artist Art Mortimer was the city’s second Mural-in-a-Day project, painted by three assistants (Linda Shrader, Wayne Winiecki, and Boris Perez) and 17 TPHS students.
